I should explain that my free trial is actually a free user account (s2Member level 0) that I set automatically expire after 14 days. I've been working with it that way for so long, I forgot their was a "free trial" option that allows you give a free trial to paid members. Maybe TMI, but I figured I would let you know.

Thanks for all your help, you guys are kick a**!

I had a feeling it wouldn't work, but I wanted to check. I am not a tech person, but I imagine it has something to do with the way MailChimp handles the starting and stopping of the autoresponders.

I wonder if when a user changes membership roles if S2Member could hook into Mailchimp to either delete them from that list or "unsubscribe" them from emails from that list, much like a user would do manually. Perhaps this would solve the issue. I am not a tech person, so I have no idea.

Thanks for the insight.

Jeff

I don't think s2Member handles this right now, I emailed Jason about it. The Notification and Tracking APIs seem to take trials into account partly, but I don't see how the Notification API could be used for this with the List Server integration.

Sorry if this question has been covered elsewhere, but I searched and couldn't find it. My question is basically what happens to a user who is an auto responder from mailchimp when they upgrade memberships.

For example:

When a user signs up for a free trial, they are subscribed to a list (The list id is entered in the s2member API form), which starts them on a mailchimp autoresponder. This auto responder will send an email to the user on the day their free trial ends (14 days in this case).

What if a user upgraded their membership status before their free trial ended, let's say on day 9? Are they removed from the autoresponder emails or does the auto responder continue?

Likewise, I have some introductory emails that are sent to members that register without starting a free trial, i.e they pay for a membership from day 1. When a free trial user upgrades to a paid account, do they start this auto responder as well? If so, do they skip the time they were a free trial member.

For example, if they were a free trial member for 14 days and the autoresponder for paid members has an email that is sent on day 16 of membership, does the user receive that email in two days, not at all, or after 16 days?

Sorry if this is a confusing question. However, I had a user who started a 14 day free trial, upgraded on day 9, yet still received an email telling him the free trial was over. I was basically wondering if there was a way to avoid this from happening.

Thanks for your patience.
