I'm sorry for the extremely delayed response.
I would start by upgrading to s2Member v3.0.9+.

Then, if the problem still exists, try de-activating other plugins until you find the culprit. This definitely sounds like a plugin conflicting with s2Member. I've not seen this reported before, so I'd like to learn more about what is causing it. Please report back if you can. ~Thanks.

I want to install the link you provide for people to update their profile from the welcome page. I filled in my details to update it and when I clicked 'save' I got this message:
