No worries - I've got this one sorted now. It turned out to be settings within Simple:Press.

I have an SSL on my site and I had to change disable the inline registration and change the url's in the Simple:Press dashboard to show https and not http.

If anyone is reading this after this, the location in SP is:

Forum -> Components -> Login and Registration.

The inline registration was being redirected to the https login that S2M understood. Once changed, upon clicking Login on the forum, it went straight to the https login page.

:D

Did you ever get to test Simple:Press? I have a similar situation to the OP. I have a Premium Members forum as part of their package. But I also have part of the forum open to anyone.

What I'm currently experiencing is a double login with Simple:Press and S2Member. You register with SP and login when you get the password. You're then taken to the S2M login page where you put in exactly the same details before you're allowed in.

I had to activate open registration for SP and think this is where S2M is jumping in.

Is there a way to prevent S2M from getting involved in this free login?

After setting everything up, I put a link to the Forum on the Welcome Page and put the link to the PDF on that page, as well as in the Forum for people to download.

Works just great.

I'm so impressed with S2 and everything it can do.

The only other thing that wasn't clear was how members could get to the login page. But I simply created a separate page called "Members" and put a link on it to the login page.

So it looks like everything is great.

Thanks again!

I'm not sure how to answer the Simple:Press question, haven't used it at all yet, I guess I'll install it soon to try it out and see how it plays with s2Member.

When the user pays over at PayPal, he's returned to s2Member and shown the registration page if he wasn't logged in when he clicked the payment button earlier (if he was logged in, then his account will be upgraded). After registration, he'd login and be shown the Login Welcome Page you configured already.

The link to the PDF can be in a page/post protected at the Level the paying members are assigned (Level 1?).

With s2Member Pro, if you want to specify what URL the user returns to after PayPal, you can do it with the success shortcode attribute. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Buttons -> Shortcode Attributes (Explained) -> success

You can edit the confirmation email s2Member sends to new paying members, even use replacement codes to customize it. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Options -> Confirmation Email

I hope that helps.

However, I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to set things up after people purchase.

I've watched the videos and got just about everything set up, and I've created the Paypal button, a Welcome Page and all the other goodies, but here's what I'm having trouble with:

After they pay, I understand they get an eMail letting them know everything went through fine. I've seen the eMail, but am not sure if I'm supposed to edit anything other than the regular text.

And what page are they returned to after they have paid? Where do I set that up? Is that the Welcome Page I set up? Should that be the download page for the PDF or should another page be set up as the download page.

Additionally, their purchase includes membership in a Simple:Press Forum and I have no idea how to integrate that so that after they pay, they get access to the Forum.

I can always put the PDF in the Forum for downloading from there, but that still leaves the problem of how to make sure they have access to the Forum after they have paid.

Thanks!
