Code:
[s2Key file_download="example-file.zip" /]

For further details, please check your Dashboard under:
s2Member -> Download Options -> Advanced Download Restrictions.

Right now, based on what Jason said, you'd have to send them to "download page"
where you'll place the encrypted link.

The link Jason refers to includes a php snippet.. so has to be embeded in a wp page...

Well, s2Member does allow you to distribute encrypted links to protected files, and they'll work even if a User/Subscriber is NOT actually a "Member" of your site ( i.e. they don't need to have a Username/Password ).

You'll find further details on this in your Dashboard, under: s2Member -> Download Options -> Advanced Download Restrictions. Advanced Download Restrictions allow you to build authenticated links that are self-contained. That is, they contain a Download Key in the link, which provides access to the file without the need for Username/Password authentication.

Now, how you go about building/distributing these links through your mailing list, I suppose that's your next challenge. Let us know what you come up with :-) We'd love to hear about!

What I'd suggest is making them register with a password sent to the email they provide, which doubles as an opt-in confirmation and shortening the form (no password fields). Then integrate s2Member with MailChimp so they get added to your list automatically. Restrict the download to Level 0 as well as the page you post the link to it in.

WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Custom Registration Fields/Options

I hope that helps. :)

First let me know that I've very excited about getting familar with and using the s2Member plugin. However, at this time I'm not ready to implement the total feature of having memebers and memember ship levels. However, I am looking to grow my email list of potential buyers (and potential members) when i'm ready to implement a paid service.

I'm currently using mailchimp to capture emails by giving away a free ebook. However, my download is not encrypted, so currently one of the biggest reasons to use s2Member is to encrypt those links.

Is it possible to use s2Member plugin to provide a download link in my autoresponders, but that does not require someone to register as a members?

Essentially someone would visit my site, enter name and email and submit, mailchimp sents the auto email asking to confirm their sign up, then they would receive an email with the download link (hopefully encrypted).

make sense? Thanks
