s2Member doesn't have an account approval process, but you can probably achieve it protecting your content at Level 1, since your free users would be at Level 0, you'd have to change their role to s2Member Level 1 manually to "activate" the account and access the content. WP Admin -> s2Member -> Users -> Edit user -> Role

i am loving what i can do with s2member (one of the best plugins around). anyway i was wondering if there is an option to set new users to require admin approval rather than just activating through the email?
if not this would be a great addition to the program.
i did try another plugin but didn't like how it worked with all my other settings.
