Just after I put up the post, I found the problem was being caused by Addthis! I'm taking your advice and adding captcha to the subscriber forms.

I have found the past few days Wordpress is adding "#.To3NV94r2so", after every url, except the home page. I mention it here because I found a subscriber that has logged in 118 time far far more than anyone else. Any ideas?
