Or privately to this support group:

Regarding the ClickBank Thank-You Page, this issue was addressed in the release of s2Member v110815, now updated to meet all of ClickBank's policies. In addition, we added new features/instructions, and a new success="" Attribute for ClickBank Shortcodes generated by s2Member, making it possible to direct Customers to a custom Thank-You Page after checkout, if you prefer. Full instructions are provided in your Dashboard, under: s2Member -> ClickBank Options -> Thank-You Page Integration.

~ thanks for your patience.

I just did a full review of your installation. I find that overall your configuration looks very good.

Couple of things though:

You have some Restriction Options that overlap a bit. When you protect "all" Posts at Level #1, that automatically protects "all" Posts from Level #0 too, due to the incremental nature of Levels. In other words, you could remove the "all" specification in places where you already require Level #1 to access that type of content. For example, this is the change I recommend.
Code:
Level #0 ( empty )
Level #1 ( all )

As for your ClickBank integration. I found several log entries by s2Member, indicating that it's Return Page and IPN handlers were "Unable to verify POST vars". With ClickBank integration, this normally means that your "Secret Key" for IPN v2.1 integration is incorrect, and so s2Member is unable to shake hands with ClickBank after checkout. To confirm this, I placed your site into test mode, and ran a transaction test against our own ClickBank credentials and everything succeeded, as can be seen in your s2Member log files. Other diagnostic tests on your installation succeeded, so the issue must be with your ClickBank account configuration, or possible issues with your s2Member configuration for ClickBank.

Possible solutions for ClickBank integration on your installation:

- Triple-check your Secret Key under:
s2Member -> ClickBank Options -> IPN v2.1 Integration.
( your existing key looks made-up, so you might consider resetting it inside your ClickBank account )

- Proper IPN Version Number:
Be sure that your ClickBank account is setup to use v2.1 and NOT to use v4.0.
s2Member integrates with ClickBank IPN v2.1 only at this time.

- Other ClickBank Account Settings:
Triple-check all other s2Member configurations for ClickBank security credentials, under:
s2Member -> ClickBank Options -> Account Settings.

4. On the new thank you page there was infor about contacting support which linked to my email, info informing them credit card purchase will show clickbank and client informed the confirmation email might take up to 15 minutes. Now on this page in the middle is a highlighed " Back To Home Page" . Now It would have been better to say continue to the membership site but I will settle for this. One would have to just click on it without knowing what home page or just wait for the confirmation email. So at that point I chose to click on "Back To Home Page" while I waited for the confirmation email. Back To Home Page put me straight to my membership site.
This is not how the checkout process should flow. The link should read, "Register Now ( Click Here )", instead of "Back To Home Page". This behavior that you're reporting indicates to me that an error has occurred during post processing ( i.e. after checkout ). In fact, what you're describing sounds like post processing failed all together on your installation. Do you have logging enabled? If so, please post a copy of your log file for review, or send us a Dashboard login and we'll investigate for you. Does anyone in this forum use S2Member Pro with Click Bank? If so how do you have your Thank you page configured? Please I desparately need help. The return url I generated for click bank thank you page on my s2member pro is not working and this has been an issue since March but I did not pay so much attention because I have been adding content to the site. Now I have the site open for members to sign and I realized they all are running into the same problem.

"ERROR: Unable to verify POST vars. Please contact Support for assistance.
This is most likely related to an invalid ClickBank® configuration. If you are the site owner, please check: s2Member -> ClickBank® Options."

You can see my previous questions since March above. I am really getting into a panic mood since I have the money and have to manually guard the site and click bank to add them mannually.. I waited for a reply all day today.

Appreciate anyone who could help me.

Well I'm sorry to say this, but other than downgrading the site to a single site (from Network), I simply followed the configuration procedure presented in the s2Member instructions.

Reading your above post, the only thing that I believe that I have done differently is that I have disabled the user activation e-mail sent out by BuddyPress. I figure if they are paying through ClickBank to get in, there's really no point in sending that activation e-mail.

I'm using the BuddyPress widget BP Disable Activation, and with the improvements that the s2Member team made to the ClickBank settings, it works as I expected it to work on a non-network site.

1. I have the s2m pro thank you url linked directly to the cb requred thank you url example http://mywebsite.com/?s2member_pro_clickbank_return=1

2. So I generated a click bank test credit card and did a test purchase

3. Purchase went ok and I was actually directed to the new s2m thank you page that they just added with the new upgrade. Thank you page looked perfect, exactly what clickbank has been asking for. I did not customize my thank you page. I just used the new s2m default thank you page.

5. I followed the steps to register as a new person who had just completed paying. Once registration went through I was logged out and requested to log back in using the new login credentials. So I logged in and landed to a problem!! My information was never added on the admin site as a paid member. So I automatically became a level 0 subscriber even though I had just paid and followed every step. I could not see the page's contents and on each click was directed back to the membership sign up page.

6. Well, being the admin of the page I then opened a new browser and checked my admin area to try and locate the new person. The new name was there but never registered as a level 1 but just a subscriber.

7. Well I assumed the best thing was to wait for the confirmation email and maybe use the link on the email to register in the site.

8. Well as I write this, its been 30 minutes and the confirmation email never came. The only email I got was from clickbank confirming the purchase..

9. Conclusion: Even though there was some great changes made especially with the thank you page which is exactly what clickbank want, we still won't get approved because if cb runs a test purchase and they get the thank you page, they must be able to log in as a paid member the same way customers would. In this case using a single site I was not able to unless I missed a step.

10. Everything I did look pretty similar to what you outline on this post: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14299

Hopefully either Cristian or Jason will respond to this post or to yours above and tell us if we are missing a step. So CB Thank You Page Looks Perfect and can be approved by cb but then the New Member get locked out as they are not registered in Admin area as paying members.

I was able to create a test user that fully registered into the system. I ran the test card created by ClickBank, was directed to the new Thank You page that sent me to the Registration page, registered, and was automatically logged in with the respective level of access after registering.

Based on my experience right now, the problems with single site installs have been resolved... but I'd much rather run MultiSite installs (issues here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14299).

ClickBank Policy on Thank-You page handlers.
( s2Member Pro will be updated very soon to better support this policy ).
http://www.clickbank.com/help/vendor-he ... -vendor/#2
B. The Thank You Page

The Thank You Page is the page customers will see after they purchase your product. Customers will only see this page if their purchase has been approved and the payment processed. In addition to thanking the customer for their purchase, your Thank You Page must include the following information:

Customers must be able to reach you if they have a question about your product need technical assistance after the purchase. Please include an email address, a link to your email address, or a contact us link on your Thank You Page.
A reminder to the customer that his or her credit card or bank statement will show a charge by ClickBank or CLKBANK*COM, rather than a reference to your specific product. This reminder should be prominent, as customers sometimes request refunds because they forget that ClickBank is handling the purchase.
Clear instructions on how to download or access the product, or information on how and when it will be delivered to them.

Also if Cristian has forwarded all my screenshots and you have seen that all the settings are right in both CB and the Admin S2M configuration, then what else is it that am missing other than the many trials and errors that you guys are suggesting as we go by with this? I am sorry if I sound a little harsh. I am usually have more patience and as you can see its been over 4 months but when you guys put the problem back to me as in I don't know what I am doing and I need to hire a pro, then it feels like my patience is being taken for stupidity and at that point it just vanishes. I do hope that you guys solve this problem for your customers and your future customers. On this thread there are some people seeking help with the same issues and you can see its all around the CB thank you page. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14165&p=28770#p28689

I would be more than happy to give it time if you clearly admit there is a problem with S2M pro configuration with CB and that you guys are working on getting it fixed than telling me I am the one who don't know how to set up this. The following is a refresher of my conversation with you back in April. My understanding back in April was that v3.5.8 was going to fix the problem per your promise below. Here is your responses to me back in April:

Investigating POST vars error now.

Re: S2 Member Pro

Postby Jason Caldwell » April 7th, 2011, 10:09 pm
OK. This is my fault. I told Cristián this was possible, but it's NOT. So sorry.
You CANNOT just link directly to the s2Member Thank-You Page for ClickBank:
Code: Select all
http://example.com/?s2member_pro_clickbank_return=1

This will cause errors, because s2Member expects to receive POST Vars from ClickBank immediately after checkout. In other words, it does not expect access from a direct link. So this explains the trouble you're having. Again, it's my fault for saying it was possible; it's NOT possible in the current release, only in the development release of s2Member v3.5.8 ( coming soon ).

That being said, what is true, is that you don't need to use s2Member's Thank-You Page for ClickBank integration. If you already have a Thank-You Page of your own, please feel free to use that instead. This is fine, because s2Member also communicates with ClickBank silently behind-the-scene, through ClickBank IPN communication. So your Customer is never left out in the cold. They'll always receive an email confirmation with further instruction.

You can customize this email from your Dashboard, under:
s2Member -> ClickBank Options -> Signup Email Confirmation.

Either that, or feel free to email us a Dashboard login and we'll have a look for you. http://www.s2member.com/contact/

I have three options at my disposal for you:

1. I can review your logs and help you solve the problem yourself.
2. Or, I can take a look at your installation and solve the problem for you, if you'd like to supply a Dashboard login.
3. Or, we can perform a professional installation of s2Member for you ( $125 ). Which includes configuration, resolution of any plugin conflicts, and more; as seen here:
https://www.s2member.com/professional-installation/

* Please note. The problem you're reporting sounds like an issue with communication between your s2Member installation and ClickBank. Normally, this is caused by (a) an invalid configuration, or (b) a problem with server configuration and compatibility with s2Member. This article may assist in that regard: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=2636

I removed the link from the Thank You Page and just informed the customer that they will receive an members confirmation email. Added instructions to follow the link on the email to register and that was it. So this way they cannot continue on to the site to sign which would mean they register at level 0.

1. I did a test purchase using a level 0 subscription that I had already created so I followed the sign up right from the site. I received the clickbank email showing I made a purchase BUT I did NOT receive the membership email that should have come from my site confirming membership approval and with the link promised on the thank you page. After 30 minutes I logged into the site and checked to see if the above account had updated to paid member or to level 1 but unfortunately not.

2. I created a new gmail account with a different name and I generated another test purchase credit card from cb. This time I did not register on the site so I went directly to my sales page and I purchased membership from there. All went ok and I got to the Thank you page above. I then checked my gmail and the only email I received once again was Click Bank's about the Test purchase. I did not receive any membership email just like (1) above.

On my admin s2m area click bank option I have both the sign up confirmation email subject and email body. I sent the screenshot to Cristian about a week or two ago. I did not even have to set that I believe it is universal or set by default even though I can change the email itself.

So at this point the payment is going through but the sign up confirmation email is not so the new members absolutely has no way to access the site.

As I write this, it has been about an hour since I did both test purchases and still no email. I don't think the email would take that long. CB would not approve this set up either if they find out that they themselves cannot access the site on a test purchase.

My only question would be what happens to those already registered at Level 0. See my site is open to all to register but some of the registered members will opt to upgrade by just clicking on the membership page meaning they already have a username and password to the site. Do I need to have instructions on my thank you page for them to reset new password and username?? Or they will be able to use the ones they had set prior to paying? I have a sales page for the product and level 0 members usually access that page right from the site.
If an existing Free Subscriber ( or any User/Member for that matter ), is logged-in whenever they click a ClickBank Button generated by the Shortcode provided by s2Member, they will be automatically updated behind-the-scene, and they can keep their existing Username/Password. They don't even need to log back in, but often times, asking the Customer to log back in after upgrading/downgrading can provide a bit of clarity about what has just taken place.

Normally, s2Member's Thank-You Page URL would handle this dynamically, and ask the existing User who has just upgraded to a paid status, to simply log back in, instead of asking them to re-register all over again ( because that's not needed anyway ). In your case though, you might need to do something more creative in this regard, because you're using a custom Thank-You Page, and it's probably not going to be nearly as dynamic as the one s2Member comes with. One idea, might be to use Simple Conditionals provided by s2Member. You'll find these documented in your Dashboard, under: s2Member -> API Scripting -> Simple Conditionals. Using Conditionals on your custom Thank-You Page, you could test to see if they are already logged-in, and if so, you could assume they just upgraded, and instead of saying "Thanks for your purchase", you might say, "Your account has been updated, thank you.". Or something along those lines. Please let us know if you have any trouble with this.

I'll answer your other question momentarily.

I just wanted to note also that the hack Cristián suggested should also work, and may provide a more seamless experience for your Customer. In other words, you could use the default ClickBank Return Page URL that s2Member comes with ( i.e. http://wwww.yoursite.com/?s2member_pro_clickbank_return=1 ), and then create this directory and hack file. But please understand, this would be recommended for experience developers.

/wp-content/mu-plugins/s2-hacks.php
Code:
<?php
add_action
('ws_plugin__s2member_during_paypal_return_during_subscr_signup_wo_update_vars', 'my_clickbank_return');
function my_clickbank_return () {
    if ($_REQUEST['s2member_paypal_proxy'] === 'clickbank') {
        echo '<script type="text/javascript">' . "\n";
        echo "window.location = 'http://yoursite.com/custom-thank-you';" . "\n";
        echo '</script>' . "\n";
        /*
        Note. Don't use wp_redirect() or header("Location: xxx") here.
        The cookies set by s2Member may not be read properly.
        Always use window.location = ''; ( as shown above ).
        */
        exit ();
    }
}
?>
* With this hack in place, it would be possible for an experienced developer to send a Customer to the registration form ( i.e. /wp-login.php?action=register ), immediately, because this hack would be processed immediately after the paid registration cookies are set by s2Member, but right before s2Member issues it's default alert message and redirection handler.

In short, this would allow a registration to take place immediately after checkout, and it would succeed with the proper Level/Capabilities ( based on what the Customer paid you for ), just like it normally would with the alert that s2Member sends by default. Only, instead of the alert message, you would handle the registration redirection yourself, in the hack file presented here. So this would be an advanced way for a developer to work around ClickBank's issue with the default method that s2Member uses in the current release.
