By the way, you can use s2Member Pro-Forms with PayPal Standard.

Yeah, content dripping could work for you too. WP Admin -> s2Member -> API / Scripting -> s2Member Content Dripping :)

I have no paypal pro, and given that I am still thinking about offering free registrations, I will most probably not have it for quite some time to come, so I cant really make use of the Pro version.

Plus out of what I have read here in the forums, that free registration pro-form conflicts with buddypress extended fields (which I am using and have already integrated in the registration form) so I don't really see the use of the pro version at this stage :-(

if the whole thing takes off and I'll need PayPal Pro, I will certainly go get the S2 Pro than as well, but for now I see no real advantage in it.

And yes, I was talking about the 1st year of each account, other wise would get people angry :-)

So you are saying it is not possible to offer a free registration for 1 year, right?
(considering the fact that one needs to use buddypress)

Now, maybe it is possible to add some extra "Custom Capabilities" to level0?
Can one apply those Custom Capabilities to categories as well?

What about - even better - content dripping ??!! Can I apply that to free registration?

Thanks!

If you're talking about the first year of each account, then you'd need s2Member Pro's free registration pro-form, which lets you set the account at a Level (e.g. Level 1) and specify for how long before it gets demoted to Level 0.

[s2Member-Pro-PayPal-Form register="1" level="0" ccaps="" desc="Signup now, it's Free!" custom="example.com" tp="0" tt="D" captcha="clean" /]

WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Pro-Forms -> PayPal Pro / Free Registrations Forms
WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Pro-Forms -> Shortcode Attributes (Explained)

I hope that helps. :)

I have this question, as I am not sure I am geting all this right

If I decide in the beginning to let everyone register for free (so basically I do not add any restrictions to level0) and later on I change level0 in restricted level with limitited capabilities and offer full rights only under a paid level1 membership, what happens with those who registered for free? Will they retain the full capabilities that were available when they registered or will they be "downgraded" to what is the new level0 ??!? I'd also like to limit the duration of these promotional free registrations to max. 1 year, so if they want to extend, they'll have to upgrade to paid membership for the second year.

Is this doable?

Or any suggestions how I can achieve this? Is there a way to offer a "modified" free membership which will only be accesible for a few month than disable that?

Thank you !
