Yeah, the work together and the coming release (in a few short days) will integrate more.

Your Level 0 member can upgrade to Level 1, just make sure he's logged in when he starts the purchase, so s2Member works with his account instead of having him create a new one. You could show the Level 1 button only to Level 0 members so you don't have the problem of not logged in ones using it.

Upgrade Existing Members to Paid Members

I have two member levels, one for Level 0 (free) and then one for Level 1 (paid). If an existing workshop participant that is Level 0 is registered and they want to upgrade to the paid membership, do i need to delete that user and then have them go through the upgrade steps via the site (this takes them to paypal for recurring payment and then returns them to the site to create a user profile). I tried upgrading and existing member but when i returned to register the new user and used my existing user profile, S2 would not let me register.

Also, I'm working with buddypress and there are member fields on signup, I noticed that those fields are coming from buddypress and I'm assuming that buddypress and S2 somehow work together (this is the reason I've been using s2 because it does work with bp from what I read online.)
