For you, and for the benefit of others, WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE is only the first step in setting up a Network installation of WordPress. Before you install s2Member on a Multisite Blog Farm, you will first need to complete the installation of a Multisite WordPress installation, as described here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

Hi Oedipa.

Multisite Blog Farms require special security considerations and are often complex in nature, requiring additional support on our part. The multisite license entitles you the specialized support you need to prevent trouble, provides more documentation, the s2Clean theme, gives you the right to let unlimited child-blogs run s2Member Pro, and even includes professional installation.

If you look at it, since you get the Unlimited Sites + s2Clean Theme package included ($149), the multisite part is $480. Considering what having a security problem in your server because of a bad configuration in your blog farm could cost you, I think it's a good price.

Here's more wonderful things about the 600 pdf...the line it tells me to add to wp-config.php:

define('MULTISITE_FARM', TRUE);

Actually breaks my install WP installation. Nice. I tried it this way:

define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true);
define('MULTISITE_FARM', true)

And with this way:

//define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true);
define('MULTISITE_FARM', true)

Both break the install. Until you take MULTISITE_FARM out of the picture. Now what? This sucks as I totally talked this plugin up to my employer.

Wow. I'm not sure what just happened, but did I just get scammed? I dutifully went back to purchase the multisite blog farm license ONLY to find out that I got nothing. Just a lame pdf telling me to add a line into my wp-config file to enable multi site. WTF????????????

PLEASE tell me I DID NOT JUST PAY $550 for a pdf instructing me to add a line of code I had already added.

Ok....I unfortunately think I know the answer. Looks like when I was purchasing this product, I accidentally purchased the Unlimited-Site License — $149 + s2Clean Theme ( package ) license as I didn't scroll down far enough to see the blog farm license. ARRRGGHHH!!!

Now I need to buy the blog farm license for $600 after having spent $149. I wonder if any of the kind people at s2member or Primo might give me a break for a $140 off the blog farm license? how would I rectify this? I need to have this farm set up soon....

I've just purchased s2Member Pro and the s2Clean theme and have them installed on a LAMP server with WPMU. Got it all up and running under a site url that is actually a subdomain of our main site URL which is on another server and actually with another hosting company. So I originally wanted to create new subdomains automagically when new users registered, but due to the limitations of the hosting company who manages my main URL, I can't do that.

However, I read that SEO is better anyway with new folders. So I want to have new users go to the signup page, register or signup for a free blog, have a folder created under their unique user name and then be able to login and start blogging with that address. I've been poking around the documentation and in the dashboard and can't figure out how to allow for this to happen. Instead, I'm asked if a new user wants to create a domain like this off of my main subdomain:

Sites you are already a member of:

http://mainsub.siteurl.org

Site Domain:
[form field where they add a user name]
[username].mainsub.siteurl.org

How can I instead have them sign up and instead get this:

Your new blog is now at:

http://mainsub.siteurl.org/username
