Scott... I had never tried that button till last night but among other possible reasons, if you are working with the button generator you are some sort of administrator. By clicking that button, you would be going to paypal with that account to buy a lower level of access which generally would not be a good idea :)

If you set your PayPal to accept only encrypted buttons, you'll need to have s2Member encrypt your buttons then. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Options -> Account Details -> Enable Button Encryption
