Let us know if you have problems again on the next upgrade.

The only folders I deleted were the S2 member folder and the Pro folder.
After trying to upgrade through the admin and having it delete all the Pro functions, I did a manual deletion of the Pro folder only and loading up of the updated folder. The admin then said the plugin was deactivated. So I deleted both folders and just added the plugin again, through the admin. Then loaded the Pro folder and it worked.

Upgrading through the admin did work for me at one time using the upgrade functionality you mentioned. It just doesn't anymore. Thanks!

It sounds like your difficulties may be related to the configuration of the server you're being hosted on. Are you losing your s2Member configuration when you delete the plugin and reinstall from the WP Admin?

When you update the s2Member plugin from WP Admin, the Pro version of the plugin needs to be updated as well. However, the Pro version doesn't get updated through the WordPress update mechanism, so s2Member provides it's own upgrade functionality for the Pro add-on (it appears after upgrading as a little red box at the top of the WP Admin, asking you to provide your s2member.com login details to upgrade the Pro add-on).

If that mechanism fails, then you'd need to login to s2member.com, download the Pro version to your computer, and extract the ZIP file. That will leave you with an s2member-pro folder on your computer. From there, you can login to your site via FTP, delete the existing s2member-pro folder in wp-content/plugins/, and then reupload the new s2member-pro folder that you just downloaded.

That should upgrade the Pro version with no problems. You don't need to reactivate anything. Simply uploading the s2member-pro folder is enough to install the latest version. As Eduan mentioned in a previous post, as long as you have Deactivate Safeguards enabled, deleting the s2member-pro folder shouldn't cause you to lose any configuration.

Hope this is helpful!

I've re-read the answers on my posts. Deactivation safeguard is on. I updated from the admin, then the Pro module stopped working. I followed the steps in the upgrading post. With all reloaded manually via ftp, the admin plugin now says the plugin is deactivated and doesn't exist, but all was reloaded and is there. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
