Do you know why custom posts wouldnt work for being restricted?

I created a custom post type to use for creating e-books called ebooks.
I created a new post inside this and took the id.
I went into Specific Post/Page Access Restriction and added the id.
Hit save and it keeps the id stored in there.
Then i go to Button Code Generator For Specific Post/Page Buttons but it does not give the option to create a button for this post id.

I know the restriction works for normal posts.
I have created a post and protected it using the same method above and this will appear in the drop down in the button generator but the protected custom post type will not?

Another question if i may?... :)

Can S2member be configured to release different posts to different members?

So say i had 52 posts. 1 for every week of the year.

If member A signed up in June 2011 they would get these posts released to them from June 2011 to June 2012

If member B signed up in July 2011 they would get the same 52 posts but would receive them from July 2011 to July 2012

What would be really cool is if there was an upload button contained with in the post/page editor that automatically uploaded the protected file to the protected folder and then allowed you to insert that file into the post/page.
Its not a big deal for me to do it by hand but when my client takes over the site they will probably have trouble doing this.

Have a great weekend mate.

Ok i have had a look at the download section. Thanks once again for pointing that out.

I have another question :)

Am i correct in my thinking that it requires that any protected files be placed inside the s2members-files folder?
The reason i ask this is because if that is the case then for me it kind of defeats the purpose of using wordpress as a CMS.
Firstly that requires that you ftp the files to the site.
You can get around having to use an ftp client to upload any new files to this area by installing a plugin such as wp easy uploader but it becomes a bit of a pain as you have to first upload the protected file to that area and then hand code the links into the post or page.
It takes away from the ability of a CMS like wordpress of being able to add a pdf to the post/page by just using the media uploader in a couple of clicks.

Is there a way to add upload pdfs from within and insert them into the page and enjoy the benefits of them being protected without having to go through all the hassles that i mentioned above?

You can protect file downloads with s2Member, yes. If you go to the Download Protection section, you'll see the options available. WP Admin -> s2Member -> Download Options

The new version that will be released in the coming days adds Amazon S3 support.

I love this plugin. Want to upgrade to the pro version but first need to know if it can do the following.

I have setup the subscription areas so these cant be accessed without a username and password but the membership area is going to be used to house posts that contain links to pdfs.
These pdf links can still be accessed even if you dont have a user account if you know the correct link.
I want to stop distribution of these pdfs via the links by encrypting them.
Does S2member contain the capabilities to do this?

I have found that the plugin emembers does with the use of estore but i really like this plugin and the paypal integration and setup was a breeze.
