I did protect one category and tried to look if there was some possibility to see the images in this category by other ways.
First, I create an .htaccess with Options -Indexes in the upload folder to block navigation through the folders (very easy to know where the images are with WP).
I took a look in the sitemap.xml I created with a plugin and saw links like these:

http://www.sitename.org/blog/protected-category/post-title/attachment/name-of-the-file-without-extension/


If I copy these links in my browser I go to a page where the image attached to the post is visible. If you have an idea to hide or protect these adresses. Will the Alternate View options influence the sitemap.xml file ?
