Update to 110605 S2 version ?

Hi,

I have version 3.5.8 installed, I saw today that there's an update available
Are there any radical changes, any known risks if updating?

Most of us have quite customized WP installations, and although I did not hack the s2 files themselves there's a lot of customizations I have performed on the rest of the files (WP, buddypress core, etc).

The stuff with "backup first" I know, but to tell you the truth, if I would have to restore an installation from the backup files would be a real nightmare and at least 2 days of work ...

Thank you!

Anyone who already upgraded? Feedback appreciated!

I have been using the release candidate but not in a live website. The release itself is very stable, it's been tested by many for almost 2 weeks now and any problem found was fixed by Jason before this new public release.

Your installation is different to others, so there's no way to be sure other than trying it. Unless you need something in it, you can wait with the version you already have and wait for more users feedback to come in before you update.

okay, thank you!
so there were no major changes, isn't it?

i'll wait for some "shouts" from other users, if they don't come, odds are the release is not critical and I might attempt an update. The update to Wordpress 3.1.3 was OK, but who knows ...

Thanks again!

I clicked a checkbox, I pressed 'Upgrade', and nothing's broken. It's like magic! hehe :D

Have a fair bit of WP customizations too, but for the record, I don't have any roles/capabilities related plugins nor Buddypress installed (one of the main plugin category types I feel could possibly affect S2's workings)

Thanks for the report! I'm very glad it went smootly. :)

Would you be so kind and please vote over at WordPress.org? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/ Thanks!

hmm ... is the plugin updating other files /database too, or it's enough if I download from WP and just replace the files in the s2 plugin folder on the server?!?

I saw there are some syncs with buddypress, and they "scare" me a bit ..

Thanks!

You can just do the automatic update in the plugins interface of your WP Admin, or you can do it manually following the instructions here viewtopic.php?f=36&t=247

OK, I think I'll give it a try ... it does not seem to overwrite files from other plugins or from WP core ..
Thank you!
