Membership site and bbpress forum on different servers?

Postby ktkfo4 » June 12th, 2011, 9:24 am

Hi, is it somehow possible to run the membership site (WP) and the bbpress forums on different servers, while maintaining the api bridge functionality? Thanks!

I've never tried this myself, but I suppose it might be possible if both servers were running on the same primary domain name ( possibly have the forums on a sub-domain ), and so long as both servers are connecting to the same database. In this case, you would need to install the API Bridge plugin for s2Member manually. You can grab the plugin file here: /s2member/includes/dropins/bridges/_s2member-bbpress-bridge.php. There are instructions in that file. Place that file inside your bbPress plugins directory.

Thanks Jason. Just let me say what a fantastic plugin this is :)

I think it would be great (in terms of site performance) to have everything on different servers. It's already possible with iDevAffiliate (the 300$ version with SEO links) and the downloads (Amazon S3), so the forum would be the last part to outsource.

I'll let you know how if I can make it work.
