Lost All My Settings On Deactivate Plug Ins

Postby guardian » July 1st, 2011, 5:30 pm

Hi!

I have to make a certain test and I deactivated all my plugins. When I reactivate the s2members plugin, the first plugin I reactivated, all my settings were gone! :(

Is is an exception or ...???

Thanks

We tried making the setting more prominent in the last versions, moving it to the top of the General Options page. I'm so sorry you lost your settings, Roger. :|

Did you make a backup before the changes?

Re: Lost All My Settings On Deactivate Plug Ins - SUGGESTION

Thanks for the answer.

Even if you would have a neon sign some users will still miss that warming...like me!

Worse, you will always have user that don't do a back-up...like me! Re

Suggestion: to add a new function like a back up function with 2 feature: import + export and this JUST for your plugin! Why?

A site that uses s2member has to protect it at all costs! It is the hearth of the web site. All the money, income is provided by this plugin. Anything happens to the plugin...you go down!

I am aware also that we could use the Tools provides in WP to back up the whole database. Two questions arise:

Why drinking one gallon of beer rather than one glass?
The bigger the database, the more risky the operation when imported? Ever heard of database corruption?
Let say you want to create another membership site, just import the settings from membership1 and make adjustments after. Better that than to start all over from scratch!

One Notch More

An automatic back up sent by email in a zip (or not) format every x period!

My $0.02 cents. No more talking, I have to reconfigure this wonderful plugin ...again! My bad!

Thank you for the great suggestions, Roger, I'll talk about them with Jason to improve this setting further.

About the automatic database backup sent by email, in my website I'm using this plugin which has worked great for me so far https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/
