Level 0 and custom capabilities?

This time it is not for me but a friend of mine. She wants to set up a site where people would REGISTER for upcoming events, like webinars or so. If they were to PAY for registration, i can see this being easy to set up with a CCAP for each webinar but is it accessible with free membership as in JUST registering?

Well, ccaps can be given to a free account on registration if you're using s2Member Pro's free registration pro-form. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Pro-Forms -> Free Registration

Thanks. I will relay the information to her. I told her it might be easier to charge $1 and use the free s2Member and "sell" the registrations as a "buy now". Then, i would convince her of the fun of using conditionals!
