Hosting Recommendations?

Postby ryannagy » October 19th, 2010, 7:39 pm

Hello - I am having a problem with S2 member on Hostgator. Several of my downloads are 30 mb and higher and they will not download. Hostgator mentions that this is because S2 member use "way too much" memory. But I have no idea what that means. I am waiting for them to clarify.

This is the message that they wrote me:

This appears to be a problem is with the members script running out of memory. It is trying to use way more memory then is allowed on our servers. This is likely because the download script needs to hold the entire file in memory, but I'm not really sure how it is coded.

18:52:21 write(6, "[19-Oct-2010 23:52:21] PHP Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 15204352) (tried to allocate 31549441 bytes) in /home/miltonh/public_html/nlplc.com/members/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/functions/file-download-access.inc.php on line 266\n", 246) = 246 "

In the meantime, can someone recommend a host that would be better for S2 member?

I would use BlueHost or MidPhase. I use both, but I like blue host better because of the easy of use. But both are excellent! BlueHost make it easy to move your hosting account over as well.

good luck

Thanks. I made the mistake of putting this particular installation on Hostgator and they are refusing to give me more than 64mb of memory for it. I'm going to port it to my Bluehost account where I believe I can up it to 128mb.
