This is the best Hostgator can do for me. Do you think if will be enough for S2 member?

safe mode = off
memory_limit = 64M MAXIMUM
max_execution_time = 30 MAXIMUM
post_max_size = 64M MAXIMUM
upload_max_filesize = 64M MAXIMUM
enable_dl = Off

Thanks - Ryan

To answer my own question - No it's not enough. I'm moving the installation off Hostgator to Bluehost. Hostgator simply does not have the flexibility and won't increase the setting beyond their "out of the box" settings. Though they did recommend - more than 9 times - that I upgrade to VPS. Sheesh.

Hi Ryan. Thanks for reporting back on this.
~ Much appreciated.

We have several customers running s2Member on HostGator. Does your site require a lot of memory perhaps? What was it exactly that caused you a problem at HostGator?

Jason - I had two mp3 files one was 30mb and the other was 39mb and neither would download properly via S2. I would click the link and each would start and then stop. The other, smaller files would download fine. Hostgator customer service wasn't to helpful and they wouldn't increase the limits beyond what I posted above.

Rather than upgrade to VPS, I moved it to Bluehost and it works fine now. I will eventually start a site with video downloads so I guess I will need to find some dedicated hosting.

Thanks! - Ryan

By the way Jason - A way to monetize your forums/website - if you are interested - find 2-3 hosting companies that offer a plan that would fit S2 - and then promote here via an affiliate relationship. I imagine you could get $75 to $150 per sign up, perhaps even more for dedicated hosting. I would certainly consider switching or upgrading via your affiliate link - especially if I knew that it was 100% compatible with S2.

Just a thought - Ryan

Thanks Ryan. That's a great suggestion.
I'll see if we can add some "ideal" hosting models as sticky posts in the forum.

We highly recommend MediaTemple (gs).
