migrate paypal subscribers to s2member subscriptions

Postby bkeller99 » October 25th, 2010, 10:32 am

Hello Jason,
I have an existing site that has paypal subscribers. the month to month recurring I am planning on just asking them to re-subscribe. But I have a handful that are in the middle of a 6 month subscription. Is there a way to transfer their exiting paypal subscription to the new site?
I see a section in the add a member section for entering paid subscrber id's. Is that what that is for?
Anyway how would I go about re-creating the subscription on the new site?

thanks

Yes, you are correct. You can re-create their account manually on your s2Member installation, and tie it to an existing PayPal Subscription ID by manually entering the Subscr. ID during the Member creation process. In your Dashboard: s2Member -> Add A Member

That being said, PayPal's service "Website Payments Standard" will not allow the IPN communication to be transferred from your old system to your new system. At least not for existing Subscriptions that existed before you made the switch to s2Member. Going forward you'll be fine, but old "Subscriptions" will NOT be communicated to s2Member via IPN, because they were created by a different piece of software. So I would suggest setting an Auto EOT Time for each Member as well. This way you can rest easy, knowing that s2Member will remove their Membership priviledges at the correct point in time; and without reliance on the PayPal IPN system for these Members that are being carried over.
