Demoting Routine Removes Access To Intermiediate Levels

Postby KirkWard » October 29th, 2010, 9:19 pm

If a member subscribes to Level 1 and then adds level 2 with the result that they have two memberships active, whenever either of the memberships is cancelled, there is no option other than to delete the subscriber or demote them to the free level.

Where is the opportunity to only remove the top level, or how do I allow them to upgrade their membership rather than adding a membership?

I am using the PayPal button code to make my sale, not the shortcode.

Thanks in advance,
Kirk

Hi Kirk.

A Member ( i.e. a single Username ) will never be associated with more than ONE Membership Level at any given time. If a Member upgrades/downgrades through a Subscription Modification Button that you generate, they will be upgraded or downgraded to the Level/Capabilities that you configured in the Modification Button.

If I misunderstood, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you meant by "top level"?

I tested, and you are correct, the member was only associated with one level, but there were two PayPal subscriptions still active rather than one.

I am presuming that it is because I am using the button code rather than the shortcode, OR because I did not create a modification button code. (Seems I am thinking whilst typing here and should test with a modification button.)

One quick question.

Where do I find the instructions for creating a modification button?

Thanks in advance ....
Kirk

edit: I guess if I spent more time reading than asking questions, I would get further along. It was in front of me at s2 -> PayPal Subscr Modification Buttons. Duh.

And, it solved the problem.
