Custom Registration Fields

I added this to a similar thread, but suspect that this isn't being monitored, so I apologize for duplicating the post now.

A few days ago, I created a registration form with several additional fields. Now I've realised that this is counter-productive and want to remove them. However, in General Options, Custom Registration Fields, they aren't listed. When I logout and try to access the site, I get offered the registration form WITH all these fields present.

Any idea what has happened and how to resolve it?
