paypal Subscriber ID is not updating in user record

Using current version of s2Member.
I have a situation where neither the paypal subscriber id nor the "custom" value is updating the user record.
I can see that the transaction was successful by looking at the logs and the ID is there but the record is not getting updated and I have to do it manually.
Doesn't happen on every transaction.
Any solution for this?
