Using s2 Pro and PayPal Website Payment Standard

Hello,

I just downloaded s2Member - great plugin! - and during testing I'm coming across a strange problem.

When I create a button - for a one time purchase - that button brings me to Paypal and I MUST create a paypal account to pay. Even when it says "credit/debit card user click here", and I enter all my CC info, it then brings me to a page where I have to create a Paypal account.

Yet - if I create a button on the Paypal site and post that on my website I click the button, it brings me to Paypal, and I can pay with a credit/debit card without having to create Paypal account.

Is there any way to use s2Member and not have to create a Paypal account to accept credit/debit cards? Without PayPal Pro?

Thank you!
Rob

I am not too sure it seems that PayPal's changes in its policies and plans - clearly geared toward pushing people to creating / having accounts with them, and hence arguably reap the benefits of sitting on an undoubtedly massive collective outstanding balance - are resulting in problems like these. I suppose that's where their new "Enhanced Recurring Payment" plan fits in, which is less expensive than their (minimum) $30/month Pro plan, but still has a monthly fee of $20 (plus the 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction).

I think it's troubling that existing, previously created buttons do have that "no PayPal account needed" feature, yet dynamically managed buttons, such as via S2Member, do not. I suppose that's one of the side aspects of having a massive oligopolist like PayPal in the payment processing market; unless larger numbers start switching to others, that's just what it is. Still, their ERP plan isn't too bad a deal, see that link above for an explanation.
