Specific Page Download Link Rejects/Redirects

Hi, I am sure there is a simply answer for this and it is probably just my being new to this all.

In addition to the members site I understood it was possible to sell downloadable products without the purchaser needing to become a member. I have understood that in order to do this you must create a sales page, create download page(s) and protect it/them with the WP ID in S2, generate a PayPal button and insert it in the sales page, upload the files to the s2member-files directory, and reference the file on the download page using the following format: http://www.yoursite.com/wordpress/?s2me ... myfile.zip

I've done all of that and when I test it everything goes well up until the downloading the file. When I try to access the file the system redirects me to the Membership Option Page that I had configured, you know the one, the page which is displayed if a non-member tries to access member content. In other words it will only allow me access if I am logged in as a member. But the whole idea of having a specific page with downloadable product without the need to become a member would seem to be negated by this.

I imagine that I have a setting out of place somewhere. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Quick follow up:

I have found this page ...wp-admin/admin.php?page=ws-plugin--s2member-down-ops which explains about using the s2member_file_download_key() in the Advanced Download Restrictions section.

I am sure this has to do with my issue but am not able to figure this out, i.e. I am not sure what I have to do with the link in the download page in respect of the instructions on how to use the file download key.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
