Upfront Fee and Recurring Membership in the same button

I'm a web designer offering membership to a help desk and private member support forum for my clients, and want to know if its possible to charge an upfront web design fee along with setting up a recurring payment for hosting and maintenance fees.

Is this possible? I'd love to buy this plugin, the community seems great and very helpful, I searched around for a bit on the forum, but frankly, I'm swamped right now and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's possible with PayPal in general. I think with PayPal you either create a buy now button or a subscribe button or an add to cart button. S2 uses the first two but I don't think you can do.. "300 now and 15 a month". Unless you have two buttons of course, 1 for initial payment and 1 for subscription. Maybe check the PayPal developer forums for a solution, if one exists........

Thanks for the response! I'll look into with Paypal, and post back if I find a solution.

It's probably a long shot, but if the PayPal support forum query doesn't pan out, here's a quirky alternative: if you use the PayPal ERP service, you can set up (accept) payment in installments. In which case, your "upfront fee" would be in fact the 1st payment, and a second payment you set up (i.e. due after a month) would be the lower "regular fee." Just make sure that your membership / subscription package terms match up; at least in theory, it should work out as intended, I think...

I know, it's a "creative" solution but it seems to come close to your scenario.
