Custom Capabilities Content Dripping

Does that mean that the only way to have content dripping based on custom capabilities is to create a second "custom capability" with the time stamp in order to figure out when it was added to that user?
Like, if the ccap is "specialpage" then something like "specialpage20101223" would allow me to pick up the right timestamp (sine there may be several ccaps with that pairing) and then I'd be able to pick the last 8 digits off that string to know the time.
Is there a better way to do this?
I would think that in order to have dripping be versatile, then a time should be assigned to any factor that would determine content access. That way, every level or custom capability, for example, would each have its time saved to consult when to drip content.
