Hello.

I've contacted my hosting provider and I am going to upgrade the account to a "business account". This will make a way for the whole website to have a private SSL. With this being said, will it allow the website to take credit cards on it? Will it stop giving the error code: 10501?

By the way, just to clarify... I have Pay Pal, and it's working great. Now all I need is for S2 to allow me to take payments. Can you please reassure me that by getting a private SSL, I won't have anymore issues running a credit card on my site? I don't know what the error code 10501 is with S2, and figure you've ran into this before. Please help, I'm almost there..... :)

Thanks for the heads up on this thread Cristián.

In your screenshot, you have Custom Field "force_ssl".
Change that to "s2member_force_ssl" with a value of "yes". And of course, that will ONLY work, if your server supports the https:// protocol. If you get browser errors, please check with your hosting company about obtaining an SSL certificate for your domain.

According to PayPal documentation, error code #10501 means:
Code: Select all
10501 Invalid Configuration.
This transaction cannot be processed due to an invalid merchant configuration.
Occurs when the billing agreement is disabled or inactive.
So this sounds like your PayPal "Pro" account is not yet activated, or perhaps it just needs some attention by PayPal merchant support on your behalf. SSL is NOT going to rid you of that error. This error has more to do with your PayPal Pro account status, and/or configuration on the PayPal end of things. Obtaining an SSL certificate just ensures that your account will not be shut down due to policy infringement and/or lack of PCI compliance when/if PayPal and/or a Customer were to review your site.

I don't want to pay for PayPal Pro account.

s2Member Pro integrates with the following gateways:
Code: Select all
PayPal Standard Button Integration.
PayPal Pro ( allows for on-site credit card processing )
Authorize.Net ( allows for on-site credit card processing )
ClickBank Button Integration
ccBill Button Integration
AliPay Button Integration
Google Checkout Button Integration

You can check your Dashboard under: s2Member -> Other Gateways, with s2Member Pro installed. You'll need to enable the Payment Gateway integrations that you'd like to use, and then each of these Payment Gateways that you plan to use, must be configured properly. If you'd like assistance installing/configuring s2Member Pro, you may want to have us do a professional installation for you. Professional installation of s2Member Pro starts at $500, and up, depending on the complexity of your business model. Please let us know if you'd like our assistance in this capacity.

VideoYou may also find these videos tutorials to be helpful:
http://www.s2member.com/paypay-service-intro-videos/
http://www.s2member.com/video-pro-intro/

Otherwise, please feel free to post specific issues in our forum and we'll try to help you out. By specific, I mean, screenshots, full detail, error codes, and/or log entries from s2Member that indicate the full extent of the problem that you're having. In your last question, you said:
How can I get a second payment method on my site?
Which additional payment method are you referring to? I've read over your thread here, and it seems you've tried several integrations, and I'm a little fuzzy on the one you're having trouble with right now. Please explain in full detail, and provide us with screenshots, and anything else you can, so we can fully understand the issue at hand.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

What I am referring to about the second payment method that I'd like to take payments on my site. As you can see, it's ready to go, and the user inputs an amount they are going to pay, and they can go to PayPal (which works perfect on my site) and or they can pay onsite. But if I want a user to pay onsite, what is the medium that carries that payment transaction on my site? Is it PayPal? Look at the link, and you'll see:

If you want to take payments on-site, you need PayPal Pro or Authorize.Net and that requires an SSL cert. If you want PayPal to take them off-site, then use the PayPal buttons and you don't need SSL. If you use the PayPal pro-form with PayPal's Express Checkout only, your customer will be required to have a PayPal account and you won't need SSL either.

I understand you want to have account creation and payment in one step with the pro-form, but for that to work you do need PayPal Pro. viewtopic.php?f=36&t=2634

So you're saying that in order to accept payments onsite, I'll have to get a PayPal Pro account period?

Also, there is no way that I can use PayPal buttons. I have a input variable box that is set to work for ANY amount entered, thus going offsite where the user can pay with a PayPal account. I want this input variable box to work with any payment method onsite or offsite.
(The variable amount entered IS the amount paid)

Another question that I am having issues with is that I am confused as to whether the private SSL I am about to purchase from Host Gator is enough to secure the credit card payments ONSITE without having to additionally upgrade to a PayPal Pro account just to make the credit card entries work onsite?

Or are you saying that I need both PayPal Pro and Private SSL through my Host Gator?

Right, and you're almost there. Your integration for the amount looks good, but you're not equipped with a PayPal Pro and/or Authorize.Net merchant account yet. So once you have one of those accounts, you can accomplish both on-site and off-site transaction processing through s2Member Pro Forms.

Or are you saying that I need both PayPal Pro and Private SSL through my Host Gator?

VideoYes, that's correct. You'll need to upgrade to PayPal Pro before on-site credit card processing is possible, period. There's no way around that. You can learn more about PayPal Pro in this video demo. http://www.s2member.com/paypay-service-intro-videos/

Which account would you get? PayPal pro or Authorize.net? Which one is cheaper and or better? I can't get a strait answer for Authorize.net. It's so confusing about resellers and what not. Do you have any info that could clear the air about this for me?

Definitely PayPal Pro. It's MUCH more powerful than Authorize.Net is. The integration possibilities are better, the consolidation of your accounting for both on-site credit card processing and PayPal transactions is better, reporting is better, the API is more robust, and of course, you can offer PayPal to those who prefer to pay with PayPal.

Here is a quick overview / comparison of PayPal services:

So all these videos that keep playing are what I get for $30 a month through PayPal Pro?

Also; by purchasing Pro, will guests be able to do a checkout with PayPal without being holding a PayPal account?

Correct, because the user will be able to checkout with your pro-form, without logging in to a PayPal account.

So after I get the Private SSL, upgrade to the Pro account with PayPal, what else will I need to do to make this actually work? Will my IPN and PDT change? Any other settings that I need to change? Will PayPal Pro just magically work??

No. Once you obtain a PayPal Pro account, inside your PayPal account generate an API Username/Password/Signature following the instructions provided by s2Member Pro. Then, you should be good, assuming all of your other configuration is accurate. See: s2Member -> PayPal Options -> Account Details. If you've already generated your API credentials, you can skip this part, of course.

IPN/PDT integration remains "as it was". No changes necessary.

OK, so I now have PayPal pro, and I also have a Private SSL in place with my hosting provider.

So, can you guys tell me if that's all I have to do to get going as far as taking payments on my website?

Also, where exactly is the redirect from PayPal and or payment? I want my users to be taken to a "Thank You" page upon receiving payment onsite or when they come back from PayPal's site. I'm really close to having this complete. Please help? :)

Here is the URL to the Payment Page if it helps:

Great!

For the return URL on success, you can use the success shortcode attribute. WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Pro-Forms -> Shortcode Attributes -> success
