Having trouble with digital magazine file...

Postby ncwriter » August 4th, 2011, 3:06 pm

I have recently created a digital magazine file using the services of pressmo.com. I'm quite happy with the magazine file, itself, but I'm having trouble serving it from the site as a secure, restricted file.

I have absolutely no problem linking directly to the magazine reader file from the website like this if I have it in the regular wp uploads directory:

http://examplemagazinedomain.com/wp-con ... /ebook.swf

The problem is, I don't want EVERYONE to be able to access it. I want this to be something only for people with level 1 access.

When I try to serve it from the s2member folder, it seems I have to treat it as a download (and even that isn't working).

I have a feeling since I'm brand new at this that I must be doing something wrong. If someone could help me get this sorted out, I will likely gladly purchase the pro version, or else donate a good chunk of change for the free version, because this is otherwise the perfect plugin for our site.

Thanks in advance!

BTW, if there is a paid solution for this, just let me know. Time is really of the essence on this project, so the sooner I can get some help on this, the better.

Could you show me the link you tried for the file when you protect it with s2Member?

Did you add the SWF extension here? WP Admin -> s2Member -> Download Options -> Inline File Extensions

Thank you so much for your response!

Ok, so http://magazine.bonesville.net/?s2membe ... index.html is the link to the file I'm linking to.

I have tried having just swf as an inline extension, but then it tries to treat the html as a download. I have also tried using html, swf as inline extensions, but then the html page won't display the swf file.

Ok... nevermind. I was able to get a local programmer to help me out with this. The solution was that the swf embed links in the html file needed to have full links, rather than relative links, to the component swf and js files.

Thanks, anyway.
