Add membership capabilities to an existing website (regular

Hi,
Can I, and if positive - how to do it - combine membership capabilities to the regular theme already in use in my website ?
Since already have a specific design and content - will adding your template will change the appearance or just add options ?

I'm guessing you're thinking about installing the standard s2Member plugin, as it just says "(regular" as I'm guessing it got cut off.

The s2Member plugin doesn't really change anything about the appearance of your site. All the redirect pages and the overall appearance of the site is dictated by your theme and your content. It's your job to set up the page's content to meet your needs.

By "regular" I mean my non-specific template (regular WP template, without any unique membership options).
So, just to make sure I understand correctly before I go and make the changes (I am quite slow with the techie aspects) - I can simply "download" - than "activate" the s2Member.
The current design will NOT change - and than I will have to go about organizing the membership levels and assigning posts/pages/categories to membership levels... ?

Okay, so what you're saying here is that you don't have people signing up especially with the default WordPress levels?
If so then:

is correct. s2Member's levels are different from the default WordPress levels.

If I'm totally wrong, I'm sorry, I'm not completely understanding what you're asking.

True, at the moment people are not (cannot) registering to specific areas or content packages (unless I give specific passwords to certain posts, which is ok only as long as there are only few users). My aim is to generate massive traffic and use automated membership service (content/levels/payments options).

The only concern I have is that the current design and contents will not change or get lost. I have no problem with organizing content according to member/user levels.

s2Member can handle this. It will take some work, and the

specific passwords to certain posts

will not be valid through the s2Member plugin. Unless I'm wrong the password you have set up for the posts should still work separately from s2Member, and if you want to protect them using the plugin, you will have to take the passwords off and instead use the plugin's protection.

As in, if you protect the post with s2Member, it will not automatically remove the password.

It's great to hope and, as Ace said, there shouldn't be a problem, but it's always a good idea to make a backup right before a change when you'd hate to lose something in case something went wrong.
