Registration has been disabled redirect

Postby rezaali » August 7th, 2011, 11:43 am

I've installed S2Member as well as the S2Cleantheme at my website www.rezaali.net and everything is working well except for 1 thing. When I key in rezaali.net, it redirects me to the signup page - http://www.rezaali.net/wp-signup.php?new=rezaali.net

with the message registration has been disabled. This happened after I installed multisite networking on the site.

Did I screw something up?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the Multi-Site in WordPress set up for sub-domains or sub-directories? If it's sub-domains the "www." might somehow interfere? Try setting it for sub-directories instead if you can.

Here's the link explaining it if you can't find it:

Hi Ace

Thanks for replying. The multi-site has been set up for sub-domains. Can I change the setting to sub-directories now?

If all else fails, I'm thinking of deactivating the multi-site in wordpress as the issue only started when I enabled the multisite.

It might be an issue with something in one of your .htaccess files...

but anyway, WordPress says it IS possible to change your setting to sub-directories

http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Net ... subfolders

You would think that it would work as www. is a pretty common extension(lol).
I doubt that s2Member is to blame as much as however the server you're on settings are.

I don't have the knowledge to study the .htaccess files. I followed the installation down to the letter. I'll look into the link you gave me and I'll give it a shot.

Actually I don't know who or what to blame (either than myself) and am following all possible leads.

Thanks. :-)

Another piece of info is that if I enabled the blog farm configuration in S2 Member, the page changes to a registration form instead of the 'error' message of registration has been disabled.

If I were to look at .htaccess what should I be looking for?

Anyone?

Hi. Problem resolved. It was the htaccess file. I contacted my hosting service provider and they fixed it for me.

Thanks Ace.

Great! I'm really glad you figured it out!

About closing the thread, I'm not sure... I haven't seen any others that have been closed. Perhaps just leave it here in case someone else has a similar problem.
