Membership Question *Pro*

Postby tommybahama » August 17th, 2011, 1:40 pm

Is there anyway of setting up an All access Membership for my site? I want to be able to give some friends and family members that control, so they don't have to sign-up.

I'm using the S2 Member Pro.

Thanks...

When you say an All-access Membership, do you mean one membership that can do anything for all of them, or a membership that's free that any of them can sign up for, that can do anything?

If it's the first, you could just make an account under Dashboard -> Users -> Add User that has Administrative access.

If it's the second, then what you can do, is create a custom capability that gives access to everything as a free user, but only give out the link to your family.

Hope that helps, and write back if you have any other questions!

If he uses a custom capability for access, then he'll have to protect content with it and users without it won't be able to view it.

He could, though, have their accounts be at Level 4 and since access is incremental for levels, they'd get access to the content of the paying members at lower levels.

I hope that makes sense.

That's true. However, I believe what tommybahama wants is a free membership just for his family that would give complete access. Perhaps you could create a family Custom Capability, then have them upgrade to level 4 on the Login Welcome Page using some PHP. I'm sure somebody can help you with that.

The thing is that the ccap would work if the content checks for it, and if it does then the other users who don't have it won't have the access.

The level could be given editing their profiles after they create the accounts or, if he has s2Member Pro, use a free registration pro-form for Level 4 that he'd give its URL only to his family members.
