Wp-FileBase Compatibility

It seems like there should be an easy fix for this, maybe not.
I want to use wp-filebase, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-filebase/ , with S2Member, since it displays the files in a nice way. Here is the problem.
In WP-filebase, when selecting a file to be as "Members Only" as any of the S2Member roles, s2Member #1, #2, #3, etc, the file is not protected by wp-filebase, anyone can enter the file url to download it. Or, if it is protected as s2Member #1 on a page that has level #0 access, the lower level #0 user can access the file. Is this a problem that can be fixed on only the end of the Wp-Filebase plugin, or is it possible to adjust the S2Member plugin to somehow integrate with it?
