S2member and Buddypress 1.5

Hi guys,

I know you are busy so no rush answering this, but with Buddypress 1.5 bringing in some pretty big code changes, will a compatible version of S2 be ready to coincide with the upgrade?

I won't be upgrading to 1.5 straight away as I know for a fact it's going to break a lot of stuff and the upgrade won't be an easy one but the payment system is obviously the core of my business so I am praying you guys have it covered!

Thanks so much for your continued support!

Ross ;)

Hi Ross. As always, great to hear from you.

Nope, nothing yet. Thanks for the heads up though. If you have a list of things that you've already discovered, please feel free to share them, as that may help us speed up the process of integrating with BP 1.5+.

Hi Jason!

I've not had an indepth look at the changes to 1.5 but I think there have been over 500 bug fixes/ enhancements and after a discussion with y main web developer, he has warned that this upgrade to 1.5 isn't going to be an easy one. he has been working with the bleeding edge development version and there are a lot of things that have changed, affecting so many plugins.

You can follow progress over at Buddypress Trac:
http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/roadmap

It looks like it's literally ready to drop as an official release ANY day though.

I won't be updating for a month or so, until all common plugins get upgraded, but like I say, the upgrade is going to be a pretty complex one this time.

The good news, however is that once the upgrade to 1.5 is done, all future upgrades should be easy.

Let me know what you find out and what you think will happen with S2.

There may well be some cool new things you can achieve! Fingers crossed! :)

Speak soon,

Ross :)

I'm not sure where the right place to report this is, but I installed the current BP v1.5 beta 2-5029 code today on a development machine and after activating BP got the following s2member error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_is_register_page() in C:\WWW\wp32\wp-content\plugins\s2member\includes\classes\systematics.inc.php on line 58

HOpefully this will help a little. I need to plan for BP v1.5, but if I can help with anything else here in term sof beta testing please advise as you have code available.

Joe

You're welcome.
BTW there is a good wiki site that is being maintained about plugins that work and plugins with issues, and a page on how to find and fix some typical errors that is being maintained here: http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-med ... ePointFive

I found it as a link from here: http://buddypress.org/community/groups/ ... e=5&num=15

Again. Please put out a shout when you develop a beta you need to have validated. I don't use all you fancy features, but I don't suspect that that's where you issues will be.I assume that they've largely cleaned up a lot of loose interface issues and they've cleaned up their code (as per the discussion) and that's throwing a monkey wrench in the works.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, please feel free to continue posting here as issues are found, we're going to start working on this ASAP. Most likely as soon as we have the current round of changes completed, late next week.

I'm having some issues with BP 1.5 RC1 and the s2 v110915 on WP 3.2.1. URI restrictions do not work as well as registration redirection. I get the default BP registration page instead of the S2 registration page. Do you have a time frame for BP 1.5 compatibility?

BTW, I tested with WP 3.1.4, BP 1.2.9 and s2 v110913 and everything works great! Thanks for the help.

BP 1.5 was released today!

Looks great, but I'll be holding off upgrading til the teething trouble has gone! Any update on S2member due Jason?

I expect a fair few things will need changing!

If I can help in any way let me know!

Ross ;)

Also confirm, BP 1.5 was released today and URI restrictions still not working with the release for me either. WIll try to debug tomorrow and post my findings, -unless primo can fix it in an update :)

Let me know if this is working yet, or if there is a fix. As I am also using BP 1.5

s2Member v110926/27 were released yesterday, with support for BuddyPress v1.5. Older versions of s2Member will NOT work with BuddyPress v1.5, so please don't try that. You can grab the latest version here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/changelog/

Got the old:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_is_create_blog() in /home7/watertra/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/classes/translations.inc.php on line 148

Had the updated s2member plugin. Also had a MU install using sub domains. I'm sure that it has to do with the blog farm feature in s2 member.

As a newb to WordPress, what is the least invasive way to remove buddy press to revert back to a stable version of my site? My last backup is rather old.

And, Jason, your not related to Rick Caldwell by any chance, are you?

Thanks for reporting this important issue.

Did this happen during installation or the upgrade of BuddyPress? If so, I believe we got this fixed in the release of s2Member 111017. See: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/changelog/

If it's not fixed for you, please let me know :-)

You can deactivate BuddyPress from the plugins menu in WordPress. Then take a look at your MySQL database, and remove all of the tables prefixed with wp_bp_.

No, sorry :-) I'm originally from Florida. I have family in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Tenn. But no Rick.
