After s2 Activation, A Bunch of Errors At Top of Screen

Hi All,

So I just purchased s2Member Pro and loaded both parts of the plug-in to my webserver. Upon activating s2Member I received the following error at the top of my browser window:

Code: Select all
Notice: Undefined index: page in /home/meme/domains/thisdomain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/classes/admin-notices.inc.php on line 136

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks,

Maybe some files were uploaded incorrectly or incompletely? Not sure. Did you upload via FTP or WP new plugin uploader?

Try these instructions viewtopic.php?f=36&t=247

I hope that helps.

That's exactly what I thought the first time, so I removed the directories and uploaded it again. I watched it the second time and it finished fine.

Any ideas what else it could be? I get those errors at the top of every page I go to when I click around the s2Members plug-in control panel. And the errors are all different.

This time I installed it through the WordPress admin panel. Same problem:

Code: Select all
Notice: Undefined index: pro_paypal_api_username in /home/meme/domains/thisdomain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/syscon.inc.php on line 270

Notice: Undefined index: pro_paypal_api_password in /home/meme/domains/thisdomain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/syscon.inc.php on line 273

Notice: Undefined index: pro_paypal_api_signature in /home/meme/domains/thisdomain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/syscon.inc.php on line 276

Notice: Undefined variable: no_cache_already_sent in /home/meme/domains/thisdomain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/classes/no-cache.inc.php on line 157

Notice: Undefined variable: cache_needs_updating in /home/meme/domains/thisdomain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/classes/cache.inc.php on line 97

The most important error seems to be this one:

Code: Select all
The plugin generated 1759 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.

I am running a fairly beefy Cloud VPS slice running CentOS 5.5 64-bit with Apache 2.2.19, MySQL 5.5.14, & PHP 5.3.8. I am running PHP CLI, not CGI. I believe the PHP is running as an Apache module. Does that help at all?

That's really odd. Could you delete the plugin directories again?

Now go to your WP Admin -> Plugins -> Add New -> Search and look for s2member, it should be the first result, click install and then activate it. Check if you get any errors, if good then proceed to the Pro add-on.

Delete the copy you have in case there's something wrong with it and re-download the latest s2Member Pro zip file. Go to WP Admin -> Plugins -> Add New -> Upload, browse for the zip file and upload it but don't activate it, s2Member will do that automatically.

Let me know if that works.

It didn't work. I made mention in my last post that's the next route I took, based on your suggestion.

Is there a support channel for paid, Pro users? Or is this the appropriate place to seek support from the Primo guys?

I'm sorry, I didn't understand that you had also tried the WP Admin approach. Got it. Did you re-download the zip to make sure it wasn't a problem with the copy you had?

Yes, this is the support channel. Sometimes we use email when we can't solve it here and Jason wants to look at the installation itself.

Do you have this problem if you deactivate other plugins? You have some errors that mention the cache, do you have any cache related plugins?

If you create a new WordPress installation in a directory, same server, and just add s2Member, do you have this problem too? If so, it may be a server problem, if not, then it's something particular to your other installation, like the plugins you have or something.

Hi Cristian,

I just reinstalled the entire WordPress site. It's a fresh install and I just tried to install s2Member as the first thing, as soon as I logged in for the first time. No luck:

Code: Select all
Installing Plugin: s2Member® ( Membership w/ PayPal® ) 110815
Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/s2member.110815.zip…

Unpacking the package…

Could not create directory. /home/meme/domains/thisdomain.com/public_html/wp-content/upgrade

This is the only plug-in I've had problems with on my server. Really.

No, we did not have any cache plug-in enabled.

What should I try next??

Thanks,

Ansel

Cristian,

Sorry, my dev and I are morons. We had the FS_LOCAL flag on and WP_DEBUG set to true. We inadvertently created the problem when we copied wp-config.php from our development server to our production. Sorry for wasting your time.

This thread can definitely be closed now.

Thanks again,

Ansel
