Beyond Custom Capabilities?

Postby MrMatt » September 8th, 2011, 5:10 pm

I've been searching for some of the custom capability posts and I couldn't find an answer to my query, so here it goes:

As an example I have member A and I would like in their buddypress profile to see fields 1,2,3,4,5 in their own profile but all completed fields when looking at other user profiles ... and then say member B would have fields 1,2,6,7,8 as an option to complete but as well can see all completed fields in other member profiles..

Another example ... I would like member A to not be able to upload photos but member B can upload photos. As well, member A and B can see all photos other members have uploaded.

Another example ... in the members dashboard I would like member A to see a section which they should complete as part of creating their profile and member B won't see this at all, except the completed results/info if they look at member A's profile or other places where this info may stream in to

Another example ... member A can write blogs and member B cannot write blogs

Am I going way outside the capabilities of s2member and running a site like this/with these capabilities isn't wordpressable.. or would/can this be done with some simple customization? Obviously, in most instances I am looking more at functional restrictions with a side of content restriction opposed to complete content restriction....

Thanks!

Hi Matt.

This is not something s2Member does by default, but may be possible for you to customize.

If you're using s2Member's custom registration fields, make sure you integrate them with BuddyPress so they're shown in the profiles there. WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Custom Registration

When you say Member A and B, are you talking about two different kinds of membership using the custom capabilities?
