Using Pro Coupons

If anyone can help that's fantastic!!!

My client would like to create a limited time coupon that gives their customers 3 months of free service. Currently the service is free for the first month then /mo ongoing after that. After wracking my brain I still can't figure out if the pro-coupon system can handle something like this. If it can I'd like some help on figuring it out. If not, is there some kind of close alternative?

No, the current coupons system will only apply discounts, not change the trial period. We're looking at how this could be done and it may be available in the future, but no date for that.

You probably could, with a little coding, create a customization that does it, though.

First, THANK YOU for answering my email so quickly. Secondly, after more thought could something like what i have submitted below work?

3MONTHSFREE|100%|12/01/2011 (basically 3 months away)

Basically, if they sign up they would get 100% discount on upfront fees (which there currently are NONE). Then the next month (October) their regular billing would hit but the coupon is still working giving them a free month. Again it would happen in November. Then in December the coupon would expire meaning they would be billed.

Does this make sense? If so, would it work?

Adding myself to this post, I'm interested in something similar. Basically, if someone uses a coupon for 10$/off the subscription, I want to make sure it only applies to the first period.

Thanks.
Lew

Well, with the current coupons system, you can apply the discount to either the initial/trial period or the regular one. You can't apply different discounts to each of those with the same coupon. You can apply a discount to one or the other or both together.

In the example you give, though, you'd need to change the initial term to make it work, because you're basically giving two months free and start charging on the third, even if you want to say it's a free trial and the first regular month free, starting charges on the second regular month.

But without the coupon the user would only have one month for the initial term, so it's a different button. This can't be done with the current coupons system. I'm sorry :|

You can do that using an initial term in your subscription and the ta-only parameter for the coupon code. WP Admin -> s2Member -> Pro Coupon Codes

I hope that helps. :)
