Clickbank questions

Postby cassel » September 18th, 2011, 4:23 pm

I cannot find the Clickbank settings at all. I have s2Member Pro, and i have looked in all the sections, but no chance. Is it hiding inside another category?

S2 Member -->Other Gateways --> Clickbank

You'll save the changes, and refresh, then the options should become available to you.

OK i found it but i have a few questions about it:
- why should i create a clickbank button? or maybe, where do i use such button? I already have my sales page with a paypal button, do I have to create a separate (yet identical) sales page, one for myself and one for clickbank affiliates?

- for the Signup confirmation email, should it be the same email as for the "regular" paypal transaction? Would it use the same variables and Replacement Codes?

- for the Thank you page, is that a separate page i have to create? I assume so, but then, if there is one URL (give as http://mydomain/?s2member_pro_clickbank_return=1) how is it handled dynamically? Does it mean i have to use a very generic Thank you page? or can it use variables and shortcodes and even conditionals?

Thank you if you can help me understand that new section for me.

I really do not know much about the setup of CB itself as I have never used it as a gateway.

You could run a parallel install of multiple payment gateways.

Take a look at this lengthy thread for some good reading on CB integration :

Thanks, but i think i need to understand how to START with CB and set things up before even getting to the Thank you note, and that thread does not address the multiple products in the thank you note either.

Here's the codex for CB integration :

viewtopic.php?f=40&t=12528&src_doc_v=110915

As I understand from skimming this post below - you would not be able to use custom user variables on the custom Thank You page - because the routine just gives them access to signup :

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2900&start=75#p29859

This is not how the checkout process should flow. The link should read, "Register Now ( Click Here )",.

That thread should have enough information to get you going with CB properly.

I feel a bit duh now. I realize that i would likely need a separate (although possibly identical) page for affiliates to direct their "customers", and then that is where i would have to put the ClickBank button (instead of Paypal button). I'll start with that, and then, hopefully the rest will fall in place. I guess i just had to visualize the whole process from the start and then, the rest would make sense.

While that would work - what I have found to be beneficial, is setting up widgets to process shortcodes (or php if preferred) of 'other payment' options on the master page. These other payment shortcodes are shown as custom widgets in sidebars, or if you prefer, you can download and use Display Widgets - which gives you control over which pages to show certain content on :
