Optimize Press Membership Pages and s2Member: What do I set?

Hello there,

I've watched each tutorial in setting up Optimize Press and the s2Member plugin, but it never clearly says how to set up the WP install so that when you type in a url and the user isn't logged in, it goes to the login page.

Any advice?

My website: www.philkrnjeu.com/members

When you go there, you get generic Getting Started Guide page.

If you are logged in, goto Members Home http://philkrnjeu.com/members/member...y-phil-krnjeu/

If you are not logged in, I want it to take you to the log in page (no idea how to do that) OR should it take you to the sales page instead?.

Any advice would be appreciated, as I've spent 6+ hours on something that sounds so easy.

Thanks.

You mean that when they type http://www.philkrnjeu.com they get redirected to the login page?

no, www.philkrnjeu.com is a separate wordpress instance. i have a completely separate wordpress instance located at www.philkrnjeu.com/members.

If you click on the http://www.philkrnjeu.com/members right now, it takes you to the OptimizePress landing page since no page is set up. What should the user be redirected to if they are not logged in? (options below)

The members page? http://philkrnjeu.com/members/members-h ... il-krnjeu/
The sales page? http://philkrnjeu.com/members/member-signup/
A login page? (and what should that url be)?

Totally confused now. Thanks

It should be your membership options page (which I believe http://philkrnjeu.com/members/members-h ... il-krnjeu/ is the one that applies the best).

You can set your membership options page under WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Membership Options Page, in there you'll choose among the pages the one you think that's best for that (I think it's http://philkrnjeu.com/members/members-h ... il-krnjeu/ is the one that applies the best).

Hope this helps :) .

Tried that, got this error:

s2Member: Your Login Welcome Page is the same as your Membership Options Page. Please correct this. See: s2Member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page.

Your login welcome page is where they're supposed to go after they login, in this case the sales page is what applies the best because they would buy things after they login.

So go to WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page and set it to the sales page.

Eduan,

Thanks again for the help... just a clarification:

In the Login Welcome Page, it says this:
Please choose a Page to be used as the first page Members will see after logging in. This Page can contain anything you like. We recommend the following title: ___Welcome To Our Members Area___.

When I make the change, I get this error:
s2Member: Your Login Welcome Page is the same as your Membership Options Page. Please correct this. See: s2Member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page.

Okay, put the page that you think that applies the best for that in the login welcome page.

Since the error persists, put the login welcome page and the membership options page both empty and then assign then as you please so that the error doesn't show anymore.

My recommendation is the sales page is the login welcome page and the members home is the membership options page.

Hope this helps :) .

goto www.philkrnjeu.com/members
<when you go to that site, you are brought to the optimizepress default landing page>

page should should redirect you (a or b)
a) if logged in, take you to Members Area

b) if not logged in, it should tell you sign in

once you are signed in, you should be at members area

---

Does that sound like the correct work flow?

You can do that using simple/advanced conditionals.

You'll find them under WP Admin -> s2Member -> API / Scripting -> Simple/Shortcode Conditionals,
and WP Admin -> s2Member -> API / Scripting -> Advanced/PHP Conditionals.

You could also try pro login widget via PHP, you'll find it under WP Admin -> s2Member -> Pro Login Widget via PHP.

Hope this helps :) .

Pino, I think the sales page would work best as the Membership Options page. Somewhere in that page, I'd add a link to the login page for existing users that just weren't logged in.

Your login page would be http://philkrnjeu.com/members/wp-login.php

You can choose as the Login Welcome page the one you consider best to receive the user. It may have recent updates, profile info, links, etc.

You can try protecting the whole Members directory using the URI restriction set to /members/. WP Admin -> Restriction Options -> URI

I hope this helps. :)

i too am stumped here....

when i set up the membership options page to

'the page you would like people to go and subscribe to your membership options'

and then i create a sales page inside OP.

Well the sales page IS the page i would like people to be redirected to

if i set the membership options page to Sales Page

and i set the general settings > reading to Sales Page

I get the conflict error... 'membership options page must be stand alone'

It kind of makes sense to make the homepage a 'member home' page set at level 1 or above. That way if people are logged in they go straight to the member home.

if someone trys to go to the domain and they are not logged in then they get redirected to the membership options page... which is the sales page... Am i clear lol

however when i try this approach i get a redirect error and the page will not resolve.

Anyway... i have struggles with this for two days including setting up another domain and another membership sie to try and duplicate the issue.

whats strange about the next installation is the warning is still their ( i have the membership options page and the reading settings the same ) and yet it seems to work and successfully displays the sales page without the redirect issue.... so im now scratching head.

Its clear that a conflict could cause different issues so thats not conclusive.

I removed OP and installed 2011 theme... seems to work no issues...

So im thinking OP is the issue.... I am loath to remove op and reinstall...

Is their something i am missing....

I have osted elsewhere but saw this thread and thought this may be a better place to place it.

Anybody out there had this issue.... ami the only one... really?
