s2Member not auto Updating Paid members. Please HELP!

Greetings,

I think I discovered a problem with my s2Member settings.

I had a new subscriber today. They paid but did not get instant access after returning from PayPal.

Thankfully they sent me an email.
When I checked their account, s2Member had not changed their Role from Subscriber to s2Member Level 1.

When I clicked on the user account, none of the BROWSE MEMBERS >> s2Member Configuration & Profile Fields were populated with data.

I looked at some of my other paid members to compare data.
They are all populated with varying levels of information!

Only one account had Paid Subscr. Gateway set to PayPal(r) Code:PayPal)
all others users were blank. (I swiched them all to PayPal Code Pay)

All except today's new subscriber had a Paid Subscr. ID
Most had the Custom Value set to "www.pixelator.biz." A few were just blank, so i set it to my URL.
All except two had Registration IPs

Shouldn't s2Member automatically populate all of these fields after a successful PayPal transaction? ( maybe not custom capabilities ?)

It's almost time for some members to get an auto-payment.
So I want to make sure this is all good!

Thanks for any help in advance. It is much appreciated.

Thanks for reporting this important issue.
Thankfully they sent me an email.
When I checked their account, s2Member had not changed their Role from Subscriber to s2Member Level 1.
Do you have s2Member's Logging/Debugging routines on? If not, please turn those on so you/we can see the IPN events associated with this transaction. That will shed light on what happened in this particular case. See: s2Member -> PayPal Options -> Account Details -> Logging/Debugging.

What version of s2Member did you first start with? If you've been working with s2Member for awhile now, this would be expected. That is, some earlier versions of s2Member, did NOT collect this information, because it was not necessary in previous releases. In those cases, s2Member assumes PayPal by default, even though nothing was officially recorded for Users/Members that signed up under an earlier installation of s2Member. s2Member is backward compatible in this regard, with previous releases.

Yes, all of this information is collected after checkout and/or during registration on your site. If some of this information is missing, I would suspect that there are errors in your s2Member log files somewhere. That being said, please remember that things like Custom Value, Paid Subscr. ID are not collected for non-paying Users. That is, s2Member only collects and stores this information for paying Members. It's fine if you filled it in manually, but it's not necessary for non-paying Users.

Hey Jason,
Thank you very much for your detailed response.

Currently, I have activated the Logging/Debugging. Hopefully that will catch any new errors.

Regarding your last response. I was running an older version of s2Member, but have upgraded to the new version.
And the members who had the empty data sets were actual paying Members.
There should be some accounts refreshing soon, so lets see if it works.

Also - the member who was double charged decided to CANCEL! because he thought I as trying to scam his card. Oh well, better luck in the future. Hopefully we can resolve this issue, or have already solved it already.

Cheers,

Alex D.
