Very good review, it describes what s2Member is all about, and maybe our family s2Member will continue growing.
But:

There is no other channel for technical support, but if you needed private attention after posting in the public forum, you’ll be asked to use the private Contact Us form, which I guess is reserved for paying members only.

This is not true, it's available for everyone. Here's the link. The Contact Form is for when you need to send private information, like a password to your site, without everyone knowing.

Also here's the change log for the new version that came out yesterday:

(s2Member/s2Member Pro) bbPress®. Dropped legacy support for bbPress® stand-alone version. s2Member still supports the WordPress® plugin version of bbPress® v2.0+. However, from this version forward, we will no longer support the legacy s2Member Bridge to the stand-alone version of bbPress®. If you've already installed the s2Member Bridge for the stand-alone version of bbPress®, using a previous release of s2Member, your s2Member Bridge plugin should continue to work. However, the s2Member bbPress® Bridge is no longer included with s2Member, and we will not support the stand-alone version of bbPress® from this point forward.

These are not good enough examples. I need examples of sites from people other than the creators. For example, check out the sample sites for WishList Member or Digital Access Pass. This sort of thing gives the plugin a lot of credibility.
