homepage not displaying posts

Has anyone had any problems with posts disappearing from the home page? I've tried posts and page formats. When I update, the post/page displays, then if I return in an hour or so, it says 'nothing found' on the homepage. All other links work fine. This seemed to happen since the last upgrade a week ago. I've had the domain permssions refreshed and the hosting is all in order. All ideas/suggestions welcome.

Check your settings for your theme, it probably is only showing posts from X number of hours.

Are the posts actually getting deleted, or are they just not showing up?

There is just one 'uncategorised' post. (I've also tried it 'categorised' and tried 'page' format). The post 'is' there, if I edit it, and update, then look at the blog, the post displays. Then when I return some time later (an hour or so) the blog shows the 'nothing found' 404 page. All the links on the blog work properly and open all the pages correctly. The only problem is the 'one' post on the front page. I've had the server permissions reset, I've tried a different theme, different file location, made the post 'sticky', applied different S2members access levels, I've tried a post with just text, no links, and with html; same problem, -- which only seems to have started since the last 'S2Members' update and was wondering if anyone else had encountered this problem? It's not the S2members welcome or login page, just a post that should display on site entry.

You say you tried another theme already. Make sure you try the default one as well.
Also, I suggest you deactivate your other plugins one by one and check after each if the problem went away. It may be a plugin conflict causing it and this is a good way to find which.
I hope that helps.

Hi Cristián, thanks for that, but tried that, default theme and plugin reinstalls. This problem occurred after the last S2Members update, but since I upgraded to WordPress 3.3, the post is now showing again and it appears to be staying in place, so it would seem that it may have been a compatibility issue with the last S2 update and WordPress. The post has been displaying for two days now, so hopefully, it's sorted. Needless to say, I will be returning if it disappears again. :0)

No, same problem persists. I'm about ready to scrap the half-finished site and start again, but there's a lot of app keys to apply, which is a pain. This is the homepage (membership.danieldlaine.com/) which is not displaying the one post. Any other ideas gratefully received.

Could you check what you have these settings set to?
WP Admin -> Settings -> Reading -> Front page
WP Admin -> s2Member -> Restriction Options -> Alt. Views
Could you also post the URL to the post that isn't showing in the homepage, please?
Are you using a caching plugin?

Hi Cristián and thanks so much for your input. Much appreciated!
Ok, this is what I've done now: I totally wiped the site and reinstalled everything using original key etc. The site was not fully set up yet which allowed me to do this without too much bother. I have now set the front page to display a static page (not a post) with the page slug: 'welcome' and which has no 'Page Level Restriction' settings applied. (This is not my S2 login/welcome or membership options page). I have ticked the 'Filter ALL WordPress® queries; protecting all Alternative Views' setting. ... and it 'seems' to be working. I still have to set up just about everything else yet, but I will see how this goes first for a few days. Are there any particular settings that should be applied to a static page being displayed on the front page?
Very grateful for your input.
Many thanks, Daniel.

You're welcome.
Nothing in particular comes to mind, you already mentioned the important thing of not making the same page be Home and Login Welcome or Membership Options to avoid conflicts.
I hope it doesn't give you more trouble.

Once again, thanks for your time. It seems to be ok now. I left it for a day, then looked at the site without logging in and everything was how it is supposed to be, so I must have had some setting somewhere which was conflicting and a reinstall seems a little extreme, but it seems to have done the trick.
Many Regards, Daniel D'Laine.
