Suggestion: New User Moderation/Approval

I love Mingle! Powerful, rich, and easy to use. I have now installed it on two different sites and the members love it. The one feature that is missing, however; is moderation.
What I mean is that it would be wonderful if a person could register using the Mingle registration form and the registration was held pending approval of a moderator (admin). This would allow clubs to allow members to register but not gain access to the members area until they were vetted and full membership granted.
There are several plugins that provide this service, but they are not compatible with Mingle.
