Home Page conflict question

I'm trying to find a solution to a situation that I imagine others might have as well. We have our main site set up at www.site.com, and then we have a protected site at members.site.com. The members site is a full e-learning platform with a home page, training content, forums, etc.

When people login to the members area, they should be taken to the members home page. But when I choose home as the Front Page in Settings > Reading > Front page and as the login page, it conflicts with the Login Welcome page in S2Member > General Options.

I can see for a single site that has an unprotected home page why you would want it this way. But for my members site, all of which is protected, I want the (protected) home page to be the front page in both WP and S2Member.

What evil will it wreak if I don't resolve the conflict it says occurs? Or, alternatively, what work around would still take all logged in members to the home page when they click home in the navigation and when they log in?

I suppose I could create a copy of the home page, but I wonder if there's a better solution. In case it helps, I have S2Member Pro.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, I think the best solution is to create a second homepage.
Because the homepage is normally available to any visitor. But the Login Welcome Page is for users only, so if you set the homepage to be the Login Welcome Page it would automatically be protected, making it impossible for users to see your homepage.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi Eduan,

But in this case, where the home page is not supposed to be available to any visitor, what if we just set it as the front page in WP AND the login welcome page in S2Member? Both would simply point to the same protected page, which is what we want. What would happen? Aside from that warning about a conflict, will anything actually go wrong?

I'm not completely sure what would happen. I suppose it would only give an error message. But if you plan to make that page protected by default then I guess it's OK to have it as both (homepage & Login Welcome Page).

I'm not sure though, you'll have to try.

Hope this helps. :)
