PayPal button with no value

Postby GamervsGamer » December 29th, 2011, 11:19 am

Hi all, Happy Holidays and Happy New year!!!!

The only paypal button I will need is to pay for membership, so that s2member recognizes them as a paid member now.

After becoming a member, any services that clients wants to pay for will be handled by a live customer representative.

So when a client chooses a service that they want, I only need for s2member to record their selection and assign it to their membership, so that the customer rep can see what they have ordered.

My question is do I assign a $0 value to the paypal buttons so that my clients aren't charged, but their service selection information is recorded?

How do I go about doing this?

Happy Holidays, GamervsGamer!

You cannot create a PayPal button with a $0 value. With s2Member, the best way to track their service selection info would be to use Custom Capabilities (see this video for more info). You'd simply create a Custom Capability for each service.

However, as for adding those Custom Capabilities to the clients account I'm a little confused as to how you're expecting things to work.

You explained that the client will pay for membership and then any additional services the client wants to pay for will be handled by a live customer service rep.

But then you also say the client chooses the service they want and then "orders" it. Are they not paying for anything in that case? Who actually orders the service?

Could you give a quick example of the steps a client might take on the site to register and then select a service?

Thank you for replying so quickly, and sorry for any confusion. You are correct, the only onlinr payment I will except is for memberships, so that S2member can recognize them as a new member and give them access to the members only pricing page. One a client has access to this page, then they will be able to select which services that they want. Once their ready to place their actual order (Not Membership fee) I want them to press a button that will sent all of their requirements to my customer service rep, who will call them back and take their payment.

Oh, so the $0 button you're asking about is to contact the customer service rep?

Well, you could just create a contact form using another plugin, put the form in a page restricted to paid members.

Does that help?

GamervsGamer,

I agree with Cristian. A contact form on a protected members-only page that then submits the information to your Customer Service Rep, will be the best option.
