Levels and Learning Modules

I've spent a lot of time over the past few days building my site based around S2 and I bought the pro module for PayPal Pro compatibility. I had planned to use each membership to represent a separate e-learning course. Only today did I learn that the membership levels are not discrete. Level 2 has access to Level 1 content etc.

I watched the videos about Custom Capabilities but I'm still not clear as to whether or not this could work in my situation. I want to create groups of pages that constitute a course. Then there will be multiple paid courses on the site (Course 1, Course 2, etc.) each consisting of different groups of pages. Currently I am planning to make each course have a 3-6 month paid access time.

Can this be done? Is there a simple way to do it?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott.

You can certainly do that with custom capabilities if you sell them in one payment. In the current release you can't have separate subscriptions. Custom capabilities can be sold indepentenly as buy now purchases, not recurring payments.

They could be part of a subscription to a level (e.g. Level 1 with the custom capability added to the button), but then only one subscription would be possible. That means you could not have a separate subscription to Course 1 and Course 2.

This limitation will be taken care of in a coming release of s2Member, which is being worked on, but there isn't a set date for it yet.
