Problem for sign up page with different browers

Desperate!

I am setting up a sign up page with the Login / Registration function of s2Member plugin. Since we want to make it simple so we only make 1 level of membership so it will either be no need to sign up for Wordpress or Sign up as a member (as a wordpress user as well)

However we can only run the full sign up page in Firefox. When we open the page in IE8 and Chrome it says "New registration is not allowed at the moment"

I guess it's the compatibility of browers issue?

Could you try making a compatibility test?

Just disable each plugin one by one (without including s2Member) until the problem goes away. You can use the Plugin Organizer plugin if you want in order to only disable the plugin on the page with the problem.

Also could you please try changing the theme to the default one (TwentyEleven)? And see if it works after that. Also, you can use the Page Theme plugin in order to change the theme to the default theme in a specific page.

You should try one at a time in order to make sure you find the correct problem.

Another fast way is to deactivate all the plugins (not s2Member) and change back to the default theme (TwentyEleven), and then clear your browser's cache. See if the problem goes away, if it does, then activate each plugin one per one until the problem appears again, then the theme you were using, that should show up the criminal.

If you find the criminal, could you please tell me which plugin/theme was causing the problems? Thanks.

Please tell me how it goes and I hope this helps. :)

Hi Eduan,

Thanks very much for your suggestions! They do make sense and I tried all of the above but the problem still existed so I went back to s2Member settings and found that I disabled "Allow Open Registration? ( Free Subscribers ) " option.

My initial idea was to create a drop down menu at the sign up page which allow users to sign up as "Free Subscriber" or "Member" but I couldn't find the option to put in the different values of the dropbox for the button to navigate users to different page (member / visitor) after they registered.

Just found out that the registration process involved PayPal payment, which I should have a look but too tired for now. The tutorials are very long and not user friendly. The whole process is painful ><

If you are requiring members to pay in order to register then yes, you will need PayPal. If they're registering for free then you don't need PayPal.

There is a video that might help you on achieving what you need. You might wanna check this video:
http://www.s2member.com/custom-fields-d ... lly-video/

Also, there is a post that might help you. Try it post and tell me if it helps:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15715

The idea is to collect, when they register, the fields and use things similar to what's on the video I gave you above. So if they select to be a member then a form shows up telling them to pay, otherwise just continue with the registration.

Be aware that this process requires some coding on your end, since it's a little technical.

Hope this helps. :)
