Activation email lost - how to activate new member?

I sent a new member a registration link, and she clicked through and created her account -- I can see her in the WP list of users. However, her account was never activated, and she can't find the activation email, and I can't figure out how to send her a new one, or activate her myself.

What do you mean by "activate"? Once her account is registered, she should be able to login.

Nope. She was unable to log in. I went into WP admin > Users, changed her password and tried logging in AS her, and got a "you need to activate this account before you can use it" error message.

Then I created a test account to see what happened, and upon registration, I received an activation email, with a link inside that I had to click to activate the account. I clicked the link, the test account was activated, and I was able to log in and see the test user both in the BACK end (what admins only can see), and inside the FRONT end of the site (what users can see).

My member never received that email with the activation link, and I could see no way to generate a new one. I ended up having to delete her user account and create a new one for her "by hand" in order to get her access to the site.

Does this make sense?

Are you using a plugin that forces activation of accounts? Are you using BuddyPress or some other add-on to WordPress?

Regarding the users not receiving the activation emails, I suggest installing the EMail Log plugin to check exactly what emails WordPress/s2Member is sending out and also installing the WP Mail SMTP plugin and configuring it with the SMTP details for the "From" address you're using in WordPress/s2Member.

Thanks Raam Dev - yes, I'm using BuddyPress -- so that must be where the activation email is coming from, then...

I suggest installing the WP Mail SMTP plugin plugin, configuring it, and then testing again. I've seen lots of emails never arrive due to problems with the mail server delivering those notifications.
