Too many IP addresses accessing one secure area

I'm suddenly getting this error when trying to login to my s2Member protected site:

503: Service Temporarily Unavailable
Too many IP addresses accessing one secure area!
Please contact Support if you need assistance.

I've verified that this is a problem with s2Member by

1. Disabling all other plugins except s2Member
2. Switching to a different theme with only s2Member active

The error only occurs when trying to login to the site. Also, it seems to work fine for some users - my web hosting support tech managed to login with no problems while I wasn't able to login at the same time. Also, I'm not sure if it's relevant but I have used the Capability Manager plugin to create custom roles for my site.

The error is here: http://clientarea.clickwp.com/wp-login.php

Username: johndoe
Password: qwe123

Thanks

Are you in a localhost enviroment? If so could you please follow the instructions in WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Localhost WAMP/MAMP Developers and follow the instructions there. Please tell me how it goes.

If not, could you please check this post and tell me if it helps:

Tell me how it goes, and I hope this helps. :)

Thanks Eduan for the lead. No, the site is online at clientarea.clickwp.com and i have removed the define("LOCALHOST", true); from wp-config.php

Actually after investigating further, it looks like the problem only occurs for 1 user account. I've been able to login normally to all other accounts.

I saw the other thread you linked too and maybe it's mod_security related. I will also try deactivating Better WP Security plugin to see if that helps. Thanks

try going to s2member>Restriction Options and try to edit Brute Force IP/Login Restrictions and Unique IP Access Restrictions. Had similar problem - dont really remember what i changed but it was somewhere near there :)

Hi,
I recommend you leave Unique IP Restrictions on and instead, you find the user that was blocked by the IP Restriction, edit the user, and near the bottom there will be a "reset IP for this user" or something along those lines, that way you still get the security but, that user doesn't have that problem.

Hope this helps. :)
